A fox kisses a wheelie bin, a house turns itself inside out, three notes drift apart across the River Thames.

Tom Foulsham is an artist working across sculpture, performance and installation. His work explores how things can appear fixed and stable while everything that makes them up remains in continual motion.

Through precarious balances and movement, Tom reveals fragility and change, creating works that question and dissolve boundaries.

The house recurs in his work as a familiar symbol of stability and routine, reflecting our acceptance of what appears permanent. In Little House (2025), it undergoes a metamorphosis, quietly resisting fixed form as inside becomes outside. Unravelling from within, it flows through itself, constantly becoming.

Tom considers how our participation sustains an illusion of stability, allowing the everyday to appear settled and beyond our influence. His large-scale live performances use the audience and landscape as compositional elements. B♭ Minor Arrangement for 3 Musicians and 1300 Meters, performed for the London Contemporary Music Festival (2022), unsettles the perception of a single, shared moment as trumpeters move across the River Thames as simultaneity slips apart.
