Hollow Ponds 2022
A sculptural performance on water in a public space. A still body of water becomes a stage, the invisible geometry of sound radiating through matter, the rhythmic dance happening inside everything.
The tones lie below the threshold of hearing and so are silent to our ears. As the two tones meet, a complex interference pattern emerges. Hyperbolic curves and rays ripple outward, etched momentarily on the water's surface. The ripples are choreographed and produced mechanically by motors positioned under the water.
