A fox balancing through a precarious kiss with a wheelie bin, a house turning itself inside out through its front door, three notes of a chord played from boats on the River Thames drift apart as they slip through space and time.

Through sculpture, performance and installation, I explore how things can appear fixed and stable while everything that makes them up remains in continual motion. The illusion of stability lets the everyday appear settled and beyond our influence. I use the precarious nature of balance to reveal the fragility of these structures that only continue to exist as a result our participation in their maintenance.

Our part in creating this illusion of stability drove me to produce large scale live performances, where the audience is central to the work. In B♭ Minor Arrangement for 3 Musicians and 1300 Meters performance 2019, the audience hear a repeated chord slip apart as the musicians move across The Thames. In Time from Space performance 2021, the audience hear a simultaneous beat transforming into a polyrhythm as simultaneous drumming slips apart into rhythm as the audience and musicians shift relative positions in Deptford Park.
